Touch Rugby - Mixed
The aim of the event is to provide an enjoyable experience for all participants.
- 12 players registered per team with 6 on the field at a time – 3 boys and 3 girls
- 2 x 8-minute halves, with a 2 minute break at halftime
The CM Games is committed to ensuring the values of manaakitanga and whanaungatanga are upheld at all times. It is an expectation all participants will show respect for one another, respect for the rules of the game and respect for the kaupapa of our event.
Sport-related queries and/or concerns relating to each sport are made to the individual sport's Technical Commissioner. Only the coach/school representative may approach the Technical Commissioner. The Technical Commissioner’s decision is final.

Rules
- Ball dropped to the ground
- Dummy Half touched while in possession
- 6th touch
- Dummy Half places the ball on or over the scoreline
- Incorrect rollball
- Incorrect tap
- Ball on or over a boundary
- At a change of possession, play restarts with a ROLLBALL
- Position at the mark where the touch was made
- Face attacking scoreline
- Without delay, roll the ball backwards between the legs at a distance of not more than 1 metre
- Dummy Half must pick up the ball cleanly and play without delay
- At the rollball, the Referee shall indicate the touch count
- A touch can be affected by either a defending player or by the player in possession
- A touch counts on the ball, hair or clothing
- After 6 touches, a change of possession shall take place
- Forward pass
- Touch & pass
- Performing a rollball before being touched
- Performing a rollball off the mark
- Using more than minimum force to effect a touch
- Claiming a touch when the touch was not affected
- Defender offside at rollball – 5 metres
- Defender offside at the tap – 10 metres
- Playing more players than the allowable number
- Incorrect substitution
- Delaying play
- Obstruction
- Misconduct
- At a Penalty, play restarts with a TAP to the non-offending team
- Ball must be placed on the ground at the mark
- Ball must be released from both hands
- Ball is tapped with either foot at a distance of not more than 1 metre
- Ball must be picked up cleanly
- Ball must be placed on or over the scoreline
- Ball does not have to be released to score a touchdown
- Dummy Half is not permitted to score touchdowns
- If a touch is made as the ball is being grounded – the touch counts
- If a touch occurs in the touchdown zone, play restarts 5 metres infield from the scoreline
All pool matches carry the following points:
- 3 points for a win
- 2 points for a draw
- 1 point for a loss
In the event of two or more teams being equal on competition points for any position in the pool table, the team with the highest for/against will be ahead. If they have equal for and against it will be the team that won between them when they played.
Drop offs are only permitted in finals/placing rounds where a result is required.
In a drop-off teams will have 1 minute after full time to go to 4 players and play for a full 2 minutes -subbing is allowed (mixed teams will need to field 2 boys and 2 girls). If it is still a draw after these two minutes teams go to 3 players (Mixed teams will need to field at least 1 girl) and play until golden point (first try wins), again subbing is allowed throughout.
