The aim of the event is to provide an enjoyable experience for all participants.

  • Each Team can register up to 12 players, with 4 girls and 4 boys on the field at any one time
  • 2 x 8-minute halves, with no break at halftime

The CM Games is committed to ensuring the values of manaakitanga and whanaungatanga are upheld at all times. It is an expectation all participants will show respect for one another, respect for the rules of the game and respect for the kaupapa of our event.

Sport-related queries and/or concerns relating to each sport are made to the individual sport's Technical Commissioner. Only the coach/school representative may approach the Technical Commissioner. The Technical Commissioner’s decision is final.

Rules

  • The field size is half a full-size rugby league field
  • Games will be 2 x 8-minute halves, with no break at halftime, just a straight change of ends and a kick-off
  • Each Team can register up to 12 players, with 4 girls and 4 boys on the field at any one time and 4 Reserves available for unlimited interchange
  • Tags will be counted to x6 to complete a set for a handover
  • Tries are worth 1 point
  • Kicks are ALLOWED after the 4th in general
  • Defenders can move when the dummy half runs, kicks or mishandles the ball BUT No defenders can move until the 1st RECEIVER has touched the ball
  • Restarts will be a TAP made by the non-try scoring team from halfway immediately after being awarded a Try
  • Diving is ALLOWED to score a Try — the ball must be grounded before hands and elbows touch the ground
  • All defenders must be at least 7 metres from the ball player
  • There is NO SPINNING ALLOWED, you can twist your hips, but not spin
  • There is to be one marker at each play the ball
  • The ball carrier may not use any form of Fending or Blocking to avoid being tagged and is not allowed to jump or alter the height of the tags
  • In the event of a draw in a pool game, NO extra time will be played and each team will be awarded 2 points
  • Should there be a draw to decide placings for play-offs:
    1. Draw between 2 teams – who bet who. (IF NO DECISION) the points for and against for ALL pool games
    2. Draw between 3 or more teams – points for and against just between the teams tied (IF NO DECISION) if it comes down to two teams, then who bet who – if there is no decision between 3 or more teams, then points for and against for ALL pool games

Extra time WILL BE required in the event of equal points at full time as follows;

  • Immediately following the end of regulation time, the referee shall toss a coin
  • The winner of the coin toss chooses to either kick-off to start extra time OR the direction of play their team will
  • The first team to score a try in this period of play will be declared the winner
  • In the interest of player safety, should neither team score in this period, the team to have scored first in a normal period of play will be declared Winner
